about

Following up in the same vein as Significant Others, in the same place with the same musical and recording equipment, but with a slightly different cast of characters, Occam's Razor began to expand the musical directions in which the Arms of Someone New would travel. There are no abrupt changes, but there is a stronger vision of where their interests lie, both with regards to the music and to collaboration with others. The first track, Renespeak, features cut-up dialogue by a friend of friend who was well known for a turn of phrase, while The Miracle Power contains stellar lead guitar work by Pete Govert, a bandmate of Mel's in The First Things. As Mel notes, The Perfect Window shows pretty clearly the influence of the Beatles and the emphasis on melody. After Occam's Razor the band's musical ambitions would grow and the two core members, Mel and Steve, would coalesce The Arms of Someone New into a still-ongoing musical journey.

Formed in 1983 when Mel Eberle and Steve Jones started collaborating, occasionally teaming up with Nick Rudd, Glenn Graham, Tim Hanafee and others.
